Attitude and Heading Reference Systems (AHRS)
An Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) traditionally combines the functions of a Vertical Gyro and a Directional Gyro to provide measurement of Roll, Pitch, and Heading (Azimuth) angles. The Crossbow AHRS500, AHRS400, and AHRS300 systems are based on solid-state MEMS sensing technology. The products combine 3-axis angular rate, linear acceleration, and magnetic field measurements to create an electronically stabilized AHRS without the orientations range and warm-up limitations of traditional systems.
The CXM544 sensor detects the Earth's magnetic field using a 3-axis magnetometer. The sensor computes a continuous measure of orientation using the 3-axis accelerometer as a gravitational reference field. The product uses the Soft Sensor® architecture to compensate for temperature drift, alignment, and other errors. The CXM544 finds applications in old well logging, marine systems, and magnetic compassing. The CXM547 is similar to the CXM544 but specially designed for directional drilling and steering applications.
The CHS Series Sensor is a specialised product designed specifically for towed sonar array applications. It is small, low power and designed to replace traditional compass solutions. Unlike compass solutions, there is no floating gimbal in the CHS110. The unit has been tested in latitude as high as 85 Degrees.
The CXM543 is design to measure the 3-axis orientation of a platform or vehicle to which it is attached. The CXM543 determines inclination and roll angles using a 3-axis accelerometer to measure the direction of earth's gravity. The azimuth angle is determined by measuring the earth's magnetic field using a 3-axis magnetometer subsystem. An internal hard iron calibration program is provided to reduced the effects of magnetic distortion from the mounting environment.
As a stand-alone magnetic field data acquisition system, the CXM539 is a fully self-contained high-speed digital magnetometer with RS232 output. The device employs three +/- 1 Gauss full scale flux-gate magnetometers, three 16-bit sigma-delta A/D converters, and a micro-controller. The unit provides compensated data output in engineering units (Gauss).
This analog output magnetometer is a fully signal conditioned flux-gate sensor with electronics. High level analog outputs offer easy interface to A/D converters and other data acquisition systems. Intended for OEM applications, the board can be customized for specific packaging requirements.
