Traditional Vertical Gyros use a mechanically gimbaled gyro system that is erected to a gravity reference to provide measurement of roll and pitch angles relative to earth's horizontal axes.
The Crossbow VG440CA and VGS440CA are Vertical Gyros which are solid-state inertial measurement systems that utilize the latest MEMS micro-machined sensing technology. They combine angular rate and linear acceleration measurements to create an electronically stabilized "VG", without the typical orientation, warm-up and reliability limitations of traditional systems. The VGS440 also includes a built-in GPS receiver and provides GPS position, velocity and heading measurements.
The VG700CB series is a 3rd-generation high stability Fiber Optic Vertical Gyro with less than 20 degree/Hr drift. The VG700AB series is an inertial system specifically designed for Automotive Test Applications.
The VG700MB series is specifically designed for military applications such as UAV flight control, helicopter avionics and shipboard antenna stabilization.
