New MS SIP uses 40% less board space that a standard reed relaySpecialist Switching & Sensing distributor Willow Technologies introduce an ultra-small reed relay, the MS SIP, that occupies less that two-thirds of the mounting area of a standard SIL reed relay. Designed & manufactured by Meder, at just 15.2mm x 3.9mm, it is ideal for ATE systems, where small size and the reed relay's proven reliability are essential. It is also very suitable for telecommunications and security systems and for measurement equipment.
As well as ultra-small size, the Meder MS SIP also offers long operating life. Built with a high-quality reed switch that gives exceptional performance when dry switching, it is rated for 109 operations, much higher than most SIP relays can offer. The MS SIP's potted construction, which reduces the thermodynamic stress the switch is subjected to in manufacture, means that its high-performance characteristics will remain consistent throughout its life.
The relay is specified at 10W (200Vdc, 1A), with maximum operating time of 0.5ms and release time of 0.1ms. The MS series is available with a magnetic screen and/ or a protective diode for improved performance. Three coil types are available: 5V, 12V and a high coil resistance version as %v. Coil resistance for the standard 5V model is 280, giving nominal power consumption of 50 mw
