Safely On-Track with Bestact Relays and Switches

Pioneer Willow Technologies Limited www.willow.co.uk is delighted to introduce the Yaskawa Controls, ‘Bestact’ range of relays and switches for rail and high performance safety applications. Bestact products have over 25 years of operational experience on the famous Shinkansen “Bullet” trains of Japan and are now installed in Hitachi’s fleet of Class 395 trains, featured in RTM’s Aug/Sep issue, which will journey between Ashford and St Pancras in just 37 minutes, at 140 mph, almost an hour faster than some trains. Southeastern High Speed Services will commence their high tech passenger facility in December.

Said Martin Pearce, Willow’s Marketing Director, “What is so incredible about Bestact high current reed switches and relays is that they feature a unique internal construction, which has significant advantages over normal reed switches. Bestact reed switches are capable of switching up to 5A/240VAC or DC (see photo). They guarantee high reliability and exceptional life even in high vibration applications such as under floor environments in trains. Bestact switches have also been incorporated into PCB reed relays, Plug-in Relays, push button switches and limit switches.”

Additional applications are many and varied and include Automatic Train Stop (ATS), Automatic Train Control (ATC), Automatic Train Operation (ATO) and within Variable Voltage, Variable Frequency (VVVF) Drives controlling induction motors, door control devices, obstruction warning devices at level crossings and threshold obstruction detectors for mud and rock slides on steep slopes or cuts./p>
